The Idol of Greed: Money
The revelation by former Assemblyman Choi Kang-wook ('86 Seoul National University Law School graduate) regarding his alma mater is significant. He claimed that if all Seoul National University Law School graduates were gathered one day and eliminated, there would be some loss to the nation, but the overall level of South Korea would rise by about 30%. While initially shocking, this metaphor became understandable in the context of the unprecedented state of emergency and continued internal strife in South Korea, especially when observing the prosecutors, judges, and politicians from the so-called Seoul National University Law School. Assemblyman Choi perceived them as the epitome of greed (貪慾).
In my opinion, their greed is largely influenced by their parents. Their parents were mostly the "Liberation Generation," a generation preoccupied with pursuing material wealth amid the Korean War, the April 19 Revolution, the military dictatorships of Park Chung-hee and Chun Doo-hwan, and rapid economic growth. In South Korea, Gangnam, a symbol of wealth, and Gangnam's eight prestigious school districts became hotbeds of ambition and greed. After all, that's where one received "proper" treatment.
Meanwhile, South Korean family and school education lacked guidance and role models on desirable human character, how to live righteously, and how to contribute to society and nation. In this environment, their children, who were wealthy and academically gifted, monopolized the prestigious departments and universities within the four major gates (四大門) of Seoul.
There was no established value system regarding what constitutes excellence and goodness. Therefore, there was no proper assessment of desirable leadership. A person's thoughts, experiences, achievements, and objective evaluations from those around them are crucial, yet these were ignored in the selection of talent for schools, companies, and government institutions.
In our society, fame and success became synonymous with exceptional rote learning, creating a stage dominated by graduates of prestigious universities.
This created a society akin to the survival of the fittest (弱肉强食), ultimately leading to money dominating everything in South Korean society.
As the children of the Liberation Generation established themselves as the ruling class and key leaders, particularly with President Yoon at the center, the historical views, professional ethics, and capabilities (力量) of high-ranking officials and politicians in various government agencies were exposed.
These individuals, while enjoying the prestige of their academic credentials and holding key leadership positions in the government, focused solely on personal advancement (出世) and greed (貪慾). They showed no concern for the weak or the people.
I cautiously wonder if God's patience with the Israeli people until they accepted the Messiah Jesus reflects a plan to use South Korea and the Korean people as descendants of Heaven (天孫).
God is holy and the embodiment of love. Despite the numerous churches in South Korea, there has been no effort to establish justice and righteousness. Essentially, they used Christian doctrine to conduct business for the sake of expanding their own churches and influence.
It seems the Lord has finally drawn His sword. He will strike down those who have mocked His word, pursuing their self-interest, and their forces. Those heretical (異端) cult leaders who have flaunted their power in God's name will be annihilated unless they repent.
Seeing the neglect of the Korean church, which had been entrusted with a mission, it seems God has granted South Korea the opportunity to discern what is right and wrong, what is pure (淨潔) and impure (不淨), by granting them insight (眼目).
Scriptually, this is a separation of the wheat from the tares.
It has revealed how fleeting and vain glory, wealth, lust of the eyes (眼目), and the pride of this life are, like houses built on sand, collapsing and becoming desolate.
In this age, dominated by Satan, the symbol of greed and deception, one faithful child and servant of the Lord who reveals the Lord's life and light is important.
The Lord will preserve and conceal them, enabling them to fulfill crucial missions until the establishment of the new heavens and the new earth after the end times.
It is my hope that the faithful children and community, and their descendants, included among those preserved and concealed by the Lord, will embrace the mission of illuminating the darkness in the midst of the chaos engulfing South Korea and the world.
Lord, fulfill this will.
I pray in Jesus' name.
